It’s been almost a whole year since the Gunners made the decision to allow Alexis Sanchez leave the club in a straight swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and it’s fair to say that neither club has benefited from that yet. However, as Arsenal confirmed yesterday that Mkhitaryan would be returning soon, the fans have called for him to be sold.

The Armenian attacker is one of those who has the ability to tear defences apart on his own when he’s on song, and it’s not hard to see why. The Gunners, though, are yet to see what the midfielder can do, and with him taking up wages and a place in the squad, they’d love to see the 29-year-old offloaded before the end of the month, especially seeing as it could force Unai Emery to put Mesut Ozil back in.
This January was never going to be a hectic window for the Gunners. It was made clear early on that funds were not there, and whilst it may be a frustrating reality, Emery will only be able to spend if he sells, giving the Gunners yet another incentive to want to see their ex-Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund attacker depart The Emirates this month.
