Arsenal fans are overjoyed after youngster Joe Willock signed a new four-year contract at the club, keeping him until 2023.
The 20-year-old has recently broken into the Gunners’ senior squad, starting three of the club’s four Premier League games so far this season, including the trip to Anfield (via WhoScored).
The youngster has come a long way with the north London giants, first joining the club at the mere age of four (via Arsenal).
In total he has made 20 first-team appearances, scoring three goals, including a brace in a 3-0 win over Blackpool in the FA Cup third round last season.
Willock has been heaped with praise this season, with Arsenal legend Ian Wright saying he could replace the error-prone Granit Xhaka in midfield (via Goal).
Arsenal fans took to Twitter to express their delight after the young midfielder signed a new long-term contract, with one fan even calling him the next Abou Diaby, who was a huge prospect when he joined from Auxerre in 2006 and former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger even touted the midfielder as the next Patrick Vieira, but injuries let him down.
Here is a selection of tweets from the north London faithful:
