Arsenal: Fans react to Calum Chambers injury news

Last night’s win over Manchester United ensured Arsenal kicked off the New Year to a great start but it’s not as if Mikel Arteta hasn’t encountered problems since taking charge.

Indeed, a draw with Bournemouth was followed by defeat at the Emirates Stadium to London rivals Chelsea, leaving the Gunners in 10th position.

Crucial fixtures follow in January, facing off against Sheffield United and Crystal Palace before facing Frank Lampard’s men once more; all of those teams are currently above Arsenal.

It doesn’t get any better for Arteta, either, with defender Calum Chambers set for an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury in the loss to Chelsea, as per Football.London.

So far this season, the former Southampton man is actually performing pretty well when it comes to defensive duties in the squad. Indeed, as per WhoScored, Chambers is averaging the third-highest number of tackles, the fifth-highest number of clearances and the third-highest amount of blocks.

While it may force the Gunners into the transfer market this January, it certainly doesn’t help their short-term aspirations of climbing the Premier League table.

These ACL’s might as well rule the player out for 18 months and that’s if they even get back to where they were before. Look how long it’s taking Bellerin and Holding to get back up to speed.
