Yesterday was Nigerian Independence day and Arsenal took to Twitter to celebrate it by sharing a message from their own Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi. The young winger has shown good form this season and he’ll be keen to continue the season the way he’s started it with more goals and assists.

A lot of the Gunners would have written off Iwobi this time last year. The winger wasn’t showing the form that he was clearly capable of and a lot of supporters wanted to see him dropped and sold. What a difference that a year can make, though, as the 22-year-old has been one of Unai Emery’s key performers in his side that have won their last seven games on the bounce.
Iwobi has one goal and two assists to his name this season and the fans are starting to appreciate for him for what he brings to the club. On Saturday the Gunners were looking flat until Emery introduced Iwobi and all of a sudden the game changed. Watford couldn’t handle the Nigerian’s directness and he quickly changed the game as he forced Craig Cathcart into turning the ball into his own net to give Arsenal the lead.
