Arsenal fans take to Twitter to demand Umtiti swoop

Arsenal fans are all desperate for some kind of marquee defender to be brought in to bolster their pathetic backline. One signing who would certainly do that is Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti, and whilst signing the Frenchman may seem farfetched, the usually reliable Arsenal fan account, DarrenArsenal1, claims they’re interested.

At a glance, this looks like a deal that will simply never happen. However, all of the infrastructure is in place for this to go ahead. The Catalan giants need cash to help them fund their summer plans, especially seeing as Frenkie De Jong is on the way in for big money, and with the French defender having missed most of the season with a mystery knee injury, a lot of Barcelona fans wouldn’t complain if he was to go.

At the age of just 25, though, Unai Emery is obviously keen to take a punt on the Frenchman. If he does leave the Camp Nou for The Emirates it will bring an end to the defender’s three years in La Liga, a spell that’s seen him win one La Liga title, two Copa Del Reys and three Spanish Supercups, and if he does make the step to join Arsenal then he’ll be hoping, along with the fans, that he can add to his club-level trophy cabinet.
