Arsenal fans take to Twitter to fume at Torreira’s dismissal

Arsenal fans will still be feeling hard done by after they only came away from yesterday’s North London Derby with a point. The Gunners stuck to their game plan and played very well and could have won had Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored late on from the spot. The fans were left fuming shortly after, though, as Lucas Torreiera saw red.

The Gunners had their North London rivals up against it late into the game and after missing the penalty the fans still had some hope to hold onto when they grabbed a succession of corners. It didn’t last long though, as when Danny Rose tried to carry the ball out for the hosts he found himself cynically scythed down by half-time substitute Lucas Torreira, and referee Anthony Taylor showed red.

Whilst the fans will have loved seeing their man go in hard in such a high-pressure clash, they won’t be pleased to see that a 94th-minute red card will now see one of their most influential midfielders miss three games. The Uruguayan midfielder, unless he can successfully appeal the red card decision, is set to miss Premier League clashes against Manchester United, Newcastle and Everton, and he’ll be a huge miss for the Gunners.
