It can often be so different for ageing defenders to make the move from abroad to the Premier League and star the way that Sokratis has done for Arsenal. Arsenal fans everywhere have become reliant on the Greek ex-Borussia Dortmund man and as a result of his incredible performances and sturdy leadership in his debut season, the fans have been flocking to marvel at him. It goes without saying that he’s been receiving only the highest marks too as AFTV tweeted asking fans to rate his season so far out of 10.
If Unai Emery can go out in the summer and look to bring in yet another smart coup at the back to partner Sokratis and make the likes of Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny redundant then it truly will be a time to celebrate. However, for now they’re having to make do with just one impressive stopper and Sokratis has more than lived up to the bill as the Gunners are less shambolic at the back now.
