Arsenal: Fans think Abou Diaby could’ve been better than Patrick Vieira

Some Arsenal fans think Abou Diaby could have been better than Patrick Vieira if he did not get injured during his time with the north London club.

A question was asked by AFTV Media on Twitter about which one Gunner supporters would have chosen never to get injured and a lot of fans chose Diaby.

The French international was capped 16 times by his country and made 180 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 19 goals and providing 16 assists, according to Transfermarkt.

However, despite his potential as a player, it was Diaby’s injury problems that the midfielder was perhaps, unfortunately, most famous for. The 33-year old missed 250 games for Arsenal because of various injuries ranging from thigh strains to problems with his calf, as per Transfermarkt. That is staggering considering he missed more games for the Gunners through injury than he played.

One supporter referred to his ‘tall’ and ‘lanky’ stature which was likened to that of Arsenal legend Vieira, and some fans believe that Diaby could have been ‘better than Vieira’ if he remained free of injuries:

It has to be Diaby though I am a big fan of Rosciky but Diaby never got a chance to show so did Jack but Diaby was something else. He was a proper replacement big Patrick. Tall Lanky Aggressive talented .. phewwww
