Arsenal fans were thrilled after former player Robin van Persie chose the youngster he is most excited about.
During a Q&A on his Twitter page, one Gunners supporter asked the former number nine which of the club’s youngsters excited him, to which he responded Gabriel Martinelli. It’s no surprise the retired attacker has picked the Brazilian, especially after his start to life in north London. The former Ituano forward has already notched up 10 goals for the north London outfit, the second-most of Mikel Arteta’s men.
He was praised by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who has claimed the forward is a ‘talent of the century’ after his brace in the 5-5 draw in the Carabao Cup. Martinelli was also tipped for stardom by Ronaldinho, who compared him to legendary striker Ronaldo Nazario (via The Mirror). Van Persie’s comments have excited the supporters, who displayed their elation about the pundit’s comments. Here are some tweets:
