Celtic goalscorer Odsonne Edouard has hinted that he could remain with the Glasgow giants next season, despite having been linked with Arsenal recently.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta will be looking to make several changes this summer after what has proved to be a rather inconsistent season at the Emirates Stadium.
Sitting ninth in the Premier League table ahead of the league’s restart on June 17, the North London club continue to be linked with a number of players and one of those has been Celtic striker Edouard.
The 22-year-old played a huge part in helping the Scottish Premiership side to a ninth league title in a row, netting an impressive 21 goals in 27 games.
With such good form and his reputation being enhanced, the former Paris Saint Germain youngster may now have put to bed talk of a potential summer exit, whilst claims have emerged that a new contract has been offered to him by Celtic.
Indeed, in his latest comments the goal machine suggests he is targeting winning a 10th league title in a row with the Bhoys next term.
“Every season we want to win the title,” he told Celtic TV. “This year is nine in-a-row and next year I hope it is 10 in-a-row. This will be historic for the club.
“It’s very important for the club, for the fans, for the team, for all of the staff. We need to go back to work for next season and I hope that we can win this title for 10 in-a-row.”
Arteta’s search for a new striker is expected to continue with The Metro claiming that the Spaniard wants to find a long-term replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whose contract expires in 2021.
Edouard has made a huge statement this season for Celtic and he will potentially gain a move to a bigger European club in the future.
The problem Arsenal have is that they sit ninth in the league table and with a 10th Scottish Premiership title a possibility next season for Celtic, you cannot blame the youngster for opting to be part of that.
Another season in Scottish football could not be a bad thing either for the striker, in which he will be able to firmly establish himself as a prolific front man.
Arsenal, who seemingly do not know who they will have up front over the next couple of seasons, need to start putting plans into place and sticking by them, or next season could prove to be ultimately as disappointing as this time round.
