According to the Daily Mail, Mikel Arteta is happy for Rob Holding to leave the club once the deal for the Lille centre-back is finalised.
Fellow Premier League side Newcastle United are interested in a loan move for the 24-year-old, as well as newly-promoted Leeds United.
Holding has been at the Gunners since his £2.7m arrival from Bolton in 2016, per Transfermarkt. but injury struggles have deprives him of consistent game-time, as he missed 37 games in a row due to a cruciate ligament rupture in December 2018. He played 18 times in all competitions last season, with eight of those coming in the Premier League, per Transfermarkt.
Despite his impressive average of 4.5 clearances per game, the Englishman has struggled in other departments as he has averaged fewer than one tackle and interception per game, per WhoScored.
The fact that he played just eight league games last term suggests that he is not an indispensable figure at the club and, with Gabriel close to joining, this would likely see Holding fall even further down the pecking order. Therefore, the 24-year-old may be happy to move on, with Arsenal knowing that they will already have a replacement secured.
