Arsenal given blow as James Rodriguez not keen on Premier League move

Arsenal may have been handed a huge transfer blow as one of their reported targets is thought to be against the idea of a switch to England.

According to a report by Marca, Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez is not sold on the idea of playing football in the Premier League.

Unai Emery was allegedly keen to bring him to The Emirates Stadium in January as he struggled to make an impact with Bayern Munich.

The Colombia international is currently on loan at the Bundesliga outfit, where he has started to turn things around and get playing time under Niko Kovac.

However, despite his desire to stay with Los Blancos, the 27-year-old’s career at the Santiago Bernabeu remains in doubt, although it would appear that a move to Arsenal and the Premier League does not interest Rodriguez the slightest.

The Verdict:

Despite the alleged financial troubles that Arsenal are thought to have, the news that Rodriguez does not find the idea of playing in the Premier League appealing will have come as a blow.

There is no doubt that Emery would have liked to have brought the Colombia international to the Gunners if he were given the chance, especially with the future of Mesut Ozil thought to be in the air.

However, it would appear that the £58.5million-rated ace, as per Transfermarkt, has no interest in playing his football in England unless it’s against an English opponent in the Champions League.
