Arsenal have reportedly reignited their efforts to sign Kieran Tierney from Scottish champions Celtic.
An exclusive report in The Scottish Sun suggests that the Gunners are ready to do business again following their failure to meet Celtic’s demands in negotiations for the Scotland left-back on two previous occasions.
The Gunners have recently added to their ranks with two announcements earlier this week, as youngsters Dani Ceballos and William Saliba’s arrivals at the club were confirmed in quick succession.
And following Arsenal’s previous failed bids for Tierney, it seems the club have not given up hope of making the 22-year-old signing number four – by reopening talks to sign the defender.
Last weekend, it was revealed that Arsenal’s latest bid for Tierney had been rejected by Celtic because of the deal’s proposed structure – despite the total valuation meeting the club’s reported asking price of £25m.
However, the dependence of Arsenal qualifying for the Champions League that was included within that bid was laughed off by Celtic as unrealistic – with the Hoops asking for more money up front.
Arsenal have not reached the Champions League since qualifying for the competition through their second-place finish in 2016 – and missed out on appearing in the coming season by virtue of a single Premier League point and a Europa League final defeat to Chelsea.
The renewed talks suggest Arsenal are willing to do business – as reports say that the club feel both parties are not too far away from an agreement.
With less than two weeks in which to finalise deals, there cannot be too many more rolls of the dice from Arsenal in negotiations – and in looking to make it third time lucky with the latest round of talks, the Gunners’ pursuit of Tierney looks to be headed for its endgame.
But with Sky Sports suggesting that the youngster would like to speak to Arsenal, there remains a hope that the Gunners can agree on a deal before time runs out.
