While the announcement that Mikel Arteta had tested positive for coronavirus sparked the suspension of the Premier League last weekend, it’s important that we remember football should come secondary to the health and safety of all.
Of course, those of us that are unable to cope with the current events due to health, financial or other issues have it much worse and even though isolation and quarantine are tough on everyone, they might need help the most.
With that in mind, the Gunners have recently announced that their head coach is doing much better after falling ill himself but James Benge made sure the fans were aware of the classy act the Gunners are doing behind the scenes.
The Football.London journalist outlined the club are liaising with groups in Islington to offer support to the most vulnerable parts of the community, which is undoubtedly a praiseworthy thing to do. Given the fact there’s so much going in the world, that news may well have slipped under the radar, especially with so much focus on when the Premier League will return.
As long as there are such acts of kindness and goodwill going around, the world should be a much safer place to live in.
One thing that may slip through the radar but really shouldn't in club statement is that Arsenal are liasing with groups in Islington to offer support to the most vulnerable parts of the community, including staff potentially ringing up eldery local people who feel isolated.
