They face stiff competition from Inter Milan who are also keeping tabs on the French under 21 star.
His current contract expires in 2017 and he has a buy-out clause in the region of £4m, making him a very easy target for the top teams.
Punters feel that as talented as Veretout may be, he is not what Arsenal need, and insist the Gunners are lacking experienced defenders and leaders.
Delightfully for Arsenal fans their boss is aware of the lack of organisation in the team, after pundits pointed it out to him.
Wenger said: “They should be talking, yes. Maybe they do talk but it doesn’t look like that when you look at the pictures. Of course it’s important to have someone organising.
“Sometimes it’s just one yard forward or backward that makes a difference.
“You want somebody to take the leadership there.”
