Arsenal preparing to land French international this summer?

Loic Remy

Loic RemyThe future of French international forward Loic Remy is once again on the agenda in the Football Transfer Tavern.

Remy has spent the campaign on loan at Newcastle United from Championship side Queens Park Rangers but he is now expected to be sold with the Loftus Road club struggling to pay his mammoth wages in the second tier and a release clause of around £8 million.

Now Metro indicate that Arsene Wenger would be interested in bringing Remy to the Emirates Stadium in the summer and has refused to rule out a move.

When asked, Wenger didn’t deny the speculation but said: “He is a very good striker. But at the moment we focus on the end of the season, not strikers.”

Gunners forward Olivier Giroud has been overused this season due to Arsenal’s lack of depth in attack and with 13 goals for the Magpies this term, he would be a good option for Wenger.

Newcastle hold some hope that they can persuade Remy to extend his stay at St. James’ Park but interest from Arsenal – who look favourites to qualify for the Champions League – is likely to turn his head as QPR look to cash in this summer.

Do you think that Remy is the sort of striker the Gunners should be targeting? Let us know your thoughts below.
