Arsenal fans have been enjoying the FA Cup fourth round day in the Football Transfer Tavern, already knowing that their side are in the draw.
A comfortable 4-0 victory over plucky Coventry City means that a possible treble is still for Arsene Wenger’s Gunners side.
However punters know that to ensure success at the Emirates Stadium, Wenger must try and strengthen his team before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.
Now the back-page of The Mirror brings some very positive developments as John Cross reports that Arsenal will attempt to sign Schalke playmaker Julian Draxler, who has admitted that he is desperate to join the Premier League leaders before the closure of the transfer window.
It was thought that the 20-year-old German international would be out of reach until the summer, but Cross now suggests that a transfer is possible with negotiations already taking place.
Draxler is rated at around £35 million by the Bundesliga club, but they could be looking to make the most of his £40 million release clause which could cause a sticking point in any move.
Wenger is looking at Draxler as an attacking midfielder who can be converted to playing as a centre forward, which would offer even more options to his high-flying team.
After landing Mesut Ozil on deadline day of the summer window, it appears that Wenger could be ready to bring more joy to Gunners with a last ditch swoop for Draxler.
Is this the signing that will fetch the Premier League title to the Emirates Stadium? Let us know your thoughts below.
