Arsenal scout Serie A duo ahead of January swoop

JorginhoArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are impressed to see reports linking them with a double-deal in January, with two potential arrivals from Italy.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed Arsenal’s chief-scout attended the Serie A clash between Napoli and Genoa yesterday, to watch Napoli’s Jorginho and Genoa star Diego Perotti.

Tony Banfield, Arsenal’s chief-scout, was eying the pair ahead of a potential January swoop from the Gunners; which is expected to cost them a total of just over £31m.

23-year-old Jorginho, a Brazilian-born Italian uncapped with either international side, is highly-rated by many top sides on the continent. Perotti, meanwhile, is an experienced 27-year-old playmaker capable of playing across the front three.

Both players would add various things to Arsenal, with Jorginho increasing the midfield ranks and becoming a potential mainstay in the Gunners line-up in the future and Perotti adding another option out wide; which may be crucial with Arsenal’s current injury problems.

Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are expected to return after November’s international break but their problems have given Arsenal issues; with Joel Campbell now the only senior recognised right-winger in the squad.

Fortunately for Arsenal the Costa Rican impressed at the weekend, scoring his first Gunners goal on his full Premier League debut, but he now faces much bigger tests against Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur this week.
