Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern hope what they are hearing is just speculation after talkSPORT revealed that new Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez is targeting Laurent Koscielny.
The Gunners have been heavily reliant on the Frenchman in recent years due to his high level performances and he would be a huge figure to replace should he leave the Emirates.
Benitez, who was announced as the new boss of Los Blancos yesterday, looks to have drawn up his own plans on what players he would like to bring in.
But should Koscielny become available, Madrid will have to fight off competition from Bayern Munich, who are also interested.
Punters in the Tavern are surprised to hear these reports considering that Benitez already has Raphael Varane at his disposal, behind Pepe and Sergio Ramos.
Unless the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss is planning on playing three at the back, which would mean he would need more centre backs available in the squad.
