Arsenal template key if Mourinho is going to deliver Man United success – Agreed?

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are gearing up for a big Derby weekend against bitter rivals Man City.

Following the victory over Arsenal last weekend, United will bounce into the biggest game of their season so far, against noisy neighbours Man City. Mourinho will be hoping to keep up his two unbeaten streaks, United are now unbeaten at home in 40 matches and Mourinho has the proud record of never been beaten on a Sunday match-up.

If United can claim the win, they will close the gap to just five points and potentially swing the pendulum in their favour. Our punters believe it will be a very close game but they should learn from the win at the Emirates last weekend, the Portuguese coach will no doubt have a game plan and our main barman thinks that he may have used last week as a dummy run.

Our landlord takes a look at two lessons Mourinho learnt last week…

High Press

United pressed high last week and hit Arsenal early on, forcing mistakes. If they press City in a similar style it could cause Pep’s players to make slightly different decisions and bring them out of their comfort zone.

City, this season have had the rub of the green, by putting them under a bit of pressure, could be the key to unlocking the defence.

Counter Attack

United should soak up the pressure which will be inevitably put on by City, though that doesn’t mean they can’t attack. Unlike Arsenal, City have several deadly finishers in the side so giving City the amount of chances they gave The Gunners would leave them open to concede a cricket score.

A rigid five at the back, would suffocate the attack and aim to counter with the blistering pace of Martial, Lingard and Rashford.
