Arsenal have agreed a deal with Chelsea for just over £50m for the signing of winger Noni Madueke. News broke earlier in June of Arsenal’s interest in the player, with reports of the player being keen on the move if the clubs could agree a deal.
Talks have now accelerated, and a deal in principle is in place for the player to cross the London divide. Madueke is currently in the USA as part of the Chelsea squad that traveled for the Club World Cup. He has now been given permission to fly to the UK to complete his move to Arsenal.
The 23 year old joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January of 2023. He has played 92 times for the Blues, scoring 20 goals. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that the player agreed personal terms “days ago” and is now set to become Arsenal’s fourth summer signing.
Arsenal to sign Madueke

Where Madueke could feature for Arsenal remains to be seen. While Arsenal have reportedly been on the market for a left sided winger, it is worth noting that Madueke has played the vast majority of his minutes on the right side of Chelsea’s attack.
He could provide much need cover for Bukayo Saka who has carried the load on Arsenal’s right flank virtually by himself. Like Saka, Madueke is naturally left footed and likes to cut inside on his left when starting on the right wing.
Madueke did however make a few appearances on the left for Chelsea, particularly towards the latter stages of last season, starting four of the Blues’ final five Premier League matches on that flank, as well as the Conference League final.
He also started as left winger for England against Andorra in June where he performed well and assisted Harry Kane’s winner. Arteta could look to deploy the player on the left side of attack for Arsenal.
Arsenal also remain linked with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo who has expressed his unhappiness at the club and was left out of the starting lineup for all five of Madrid’s Club World Cup matches this summer. The Brazilian has reportedly been told by Madrid that he is free to leave this summer, putting Arsenal on high alert.
Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze is another star name linked with a move to Arsenal. The Eagles talisman can play as a left winger and as a number 10 and is reportedly high on the wish list of Arsenal despite the impending incoming of Madueke.
Any move for either of these two would likely impact where Madueke ultimately plays for Arsenal. Arteta is reportedly a huge fan of the player and pushed for the transfer personally, so it is likely Madueke will get plenty of minutes in various positions across the frontline.
