Stress is not the word for the faces of Arsenal and Tottenham fans here at the Football Transfer Tavern as it has been claimed by SBNation that both clubs are set to miss out on signing Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain after the forward neared a deal with Juventus.
The Italian champions have been locked in a three way race with both North London clubs for the Argentine forward who has been told that he is no longer required at Spanish giants Real Madrid and now will see himself cast out into the cold.
Higuain has been frustrated with the lack of opportunity he has received at Real Madrid this season and even with Jose Mourinho leaving the club, the player will still be second choice to Karim Benzema and also left to fight it out with the new arrivals this summer in a spell of change for the club.
Arsene Wenger was thought to be particularly keen on the forward yet now it seems that the player himself has opted to join Italian champions Juventus who have already agreed terms with the striker. A fee with Real Madrid is yet to be reached but given the fact that Los Blancos are keen to allow Pipita to leave not to mention raise funds for new players, it does not seem like this will be an issue.
It does however leave both Andre Villas-Boas and also Arsene Wenger with the issue of looking at new forwards and seems to make the the Stevan Jovetic to Arsenal rumour even more paramount.
