“Bad Business,” “not world-class” - Man United fans unimpressed with Mourinho’s big-money target

Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been left somewhat speechless by news Jose Mourinho is willing to spend a whopping £40million on Eric Dier.

No doubt, the Tottenham Hotspur star is a decent talent, already established within the England fold and an important member of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad – in no small part due to his ability to operate as a defensive midfielder, a centre-half or a full-back.

But recent reports from The Telegraph have left the Tavern’s United punters in shock; the newspaper claims Mourinho is ‘desperate’ to sign the Three Lions international this summer and fork out a whopping £40million for his services.

Manchester United could be in the market for another holding midfield option this summer with Michael Carrick’s contract due to expire and Dier reportedly sees his future in the engine room rather than as part of the defence.
