Samuel Umtiti will miss Barcelona’s Champions League match against Slavia Prague with a bruised knee, as reported by the club’s official website.

This comes just days after the Frenchman played his first game of the season, completing the full 90 minutes of their 3-0 win against Eibar, making 9 clearances and 3 interceptions, as per WhoScored.
While there had been hope that the World Cup winner could kick on following a fairly impressive display, he will now be confined to the sideline once again:

This will be seen as a worrying blow, with the 25-year-old having missed 28 games due to two separate knee injuries last season, as per Transfermarkt.
Many fans have been left frustrated by this news, with some feeling there was a sense of inevitability that this would happen after he was played for the full 90 minutes of the comfortable victory.
There has been blame put on Ernesto Valverde for keeping him on for the whole game, while this has also been seen as a sign that Umtiti is finished by some.
