Liverpool supporters have been pretty downbeat in the Transfer Tavern this week following their side’s defeat at the hands of Premier League strugglers Swansea City on Monday, a result which ended their 18-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Swans off the back of beating runaway leaders Manchester City 4-3 the week before, and having not tasted defeat in any competition since the end of October. Yet the Reds produced a limp display and were deservedly beaten at the Liberty Stadium on Monday, with Alfie Mawson’s strike just before half time enough to secure a 1-0 win for Carlos Carvalhal’s side, in turn putting a dent in Liverpool’s top four aspirations.
As such, there have been many frustrated Liverpudlians in the Tavern in the last few days, several of whom are hoping that Monday’s result and performance are nothing more than a blip, and normal service is resumed against West Brom in the FA Cup this weekend.
In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Reds to get their teeth into, not least recent reports linking them with a move for Baggies striker Salomon Rondon.
The 28-year-old has scored 23 goals in 105 games for the Midlands outfit since moving there back in 2015, yet has only managed three Premier League goals so far this season as the club battle to preserve their top-flight status.
Nonetheless, the Reds are reportedly keen on bringing the Venezuela international to Anfield this month, in news which hasn’t gone down particularly well with several Liverpool fans on Twitter…
If I hear someone else say rondon would be a good signing I’ll have to mute this thing till February 1st #LFC

The day @LFC signs Rondon instead of Aubameyang is the day I quit support LFC and being a fan
— BlacBoy (@spikedspartan) January 25, 2018
@LFC had been linked with James Lemar Aubamayang Ozil Sanchez even Bale so it would make total sense if we signed Rondon.

We’ve been linked to Rondon before that’s the scary thing that would be peak LFC. Surely not

Would prefer a better bench warmer. Rondon not good enough

The rumour bout @Lfc #YNWA considering Solomon Rondon should just stay as a rumour. That’ll be a mistake if we are thinking of buying
— DaTownCrier (@eSamFM) January 25, 2018
Even Rondon? He’s being linked I say, No thanks! We’ve bought mid range poor players to waste time and sell at a lost before.

Signing Rondon in place of Coutinho would be the exact equivalent of Lambert for Suarez. Rondon has 3 goals, Lambert must of had more in season before we signed him.

Liverpool fans… what do you think? Let us know!
