Nottingham Forest earned a crucial 1-0 win over Cardiff on Tuesday and now sit third in the Championship, with Tiago Silva netting a second-half winner.
It was a typical performance from Forest as the hosts had the majority of possession and Matty Cash won the man of the match, with Sabri Lamouchi’s side winning the three points through grit and determination.
One player who characterises those traits is captain Ben Watson, who has been ever-present for his side this season and fought hard with two tackles and three interceptions (per WhoScored) in a performance which earned him significant praise from fans. Some supporters admitted they held doubts about the 34-year-old earlier in the year but their view has changed, and some now seem to think that he is a key part of the team and could lead them to promotion after having an “absolutely unbelievable campaign“.
Watson may be in the twilight of his career but Lamouchi has got the best out of him with six goal contributions and four man of the match awards, leading these Forest supporters to praise the midfielder for what he has offered.
