The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been having a pretty good summer so far, although it just got so much better as their prime playmaker, Mesut Ozil has been given the number ten shirt for the upcoming season.

Since Mesut Ozil joined Arsenal back in summer 2013, the German international has been wearing the number 11 shirt. However, now Jack Wilshere has left the club the number ten shirt has become vacant. There are no winners for guessing that Ozil would be donning the number ten for the Gunners next season and the fans will be hoping he can play the same way he did the last time he wore the ten shirt at club level, for Real Madrid back in 2012/13.
Back in that season, his final one for Los Blancos, the German scored ten goals and registered 24 assists and if he can replicate those numbers at The Emirates this season then it will put Arsenal in the driving seat to qualify for the Champions League. The fans are all calling for Ozil to perform now he’s got his favoured number and it will be a key season in his Arsenal career after coming under a lot of criticism for a perceived lack of work rate in previous years whilst playing under Arsene Wenger at the club.
