‘Better than Cahill, Luiz, Rudiger’ - Chelsea fans loving Stamford Bridge legend after club post

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been able to watch some incredible players strut their stuff at Stamford Bridge over the years.

From classic icons like Peter Osgood and Ron Harris, to modern heroes like Gianfranco Zola and Didier Drogba, there have been literally dozens of players that will forever go down in the history of the club.

Arguably the most successful of that crop came in the mid-200s following the arrival of Roman Abramovich. One of those players, Ricardo Carvalho, celebrated his birthday on Friday, and the official Chelsea Twitter paid sent their well wishes whilst honouring all of his achievements at the club. He, of course, moved to Chelsea in 2004 when Jose Mourinho was in charge.

That group of players, led by the ever-divisive Jose Mourinho, have all gone down as legends amongst the Chelsea faithful for what they achieved at the club, and Carvalho was undoubtedly one of the most popular in the bunch.

He was the rock at the back for Chelsea during a period of real dominance, and his time alongside John Terry will live long in the memory.

In response to the message from the Blues, the Chelsea fans on Twitter have been heaping praise on the Portuguese, and rightfully so.

Indeed, some are pointing towards the current crop of Chelsea defenders and wishing that they had one more like Carvalho.
