‘Better than Maldini’ - Liverpool fans are loving first team regular on Twitter

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking ahead to the Champions League final on Saturday. With the Premier League wrapped up, attention can fully turn to that game, and it’s sure to be a historic night for every player on that pitch.

One player that won’t be involved on the day, however, is young Joe Gomez. He suffered an injury a few weeks ago that not only ruled him out of a trip to Kiev for the final, but also the World Cup with England. Whether he would have gone to Russia with England anyway we’ll never know, but he was certainly in with a shout.

Nonetheless, Liverpool are not forgetting about their young English defender. To the contrary, in fact, they’ve been celebrating him over on their Twitter page.

They recently put out a celebratory Tweet commemorating his 21st birthday, and it’s fair to say that it isn’t just the club that is keen to send him a positive message.

Indeed, in response to the Tweet, dozens of Liverpool fans have responded in kind – with many sending messages of support and love to the Englishman.

They’re clearly very impressed by his form this season, with one fan even describing him as better than Paolo Maldini – which is quite an achievement!
