Bidding War Could Take €5M WantAway Defender To Liverpool Or Hamburg

Majid Bougherra could yet be on his way to Anfield.

His agent Farid Raayad claims Liverpool are keen to engage the players services. Whether this bears any relation to reality of course is something else entirely.

“If a big team comes in and Rangers accept an offer for me that is destiny,” said Bougherra, who last traded at £2.5M when he moved from Charlton three years ago. His price this time around would probably nearer the €5M mark.

It’s a badly kept secret that Rangers are skint, so all that remains is word of an official bid. The Algerian defender was previously linked with a move to Arsenal which never happened, so the refusal to renew his terms with Rangers can only be a sign that he is determined on quitting Scottish football this time.

Rangers also face renewed interest from Hamburg and if the interest from Liverpool were genuine and if the price crept up to €6M it’s difficult to see Rangers holding onto the player.
