Our resident Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are no strangers to a busy summer of activity and fully expect Jose Mourinho to spend big this summer.
Looking to improve on a relatively disappointing Premier League campaign, the Red Devils seem to be linked with pretty much every top class player under the sun. So, while it’s largely a case of taking things with a pinch of salt, there have been some intriguing reports from the Manchester Evening News today.
They claim the Red Devils really are keen on a move for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and talks between the parties involved have reportedly already taken place. Indeed, sources are said to have indicated that a deal could be close to being agreed, with Mourinho understood to be eager to reunite.
The Serbian bruiser is said to have been identified as a priority in the defensive midfield berth, in order to allow Paul Pogba a freer role next term. For his part, the 28-year-old is believed to be open to a move to Old Trafford.
As you can imagine, this has gone down very well amongst our United-supporting locals.
