‘Biggest hypocrite in football’ - Liverpool fans slate rival figure following bizarre report

It doesn’t take much to stoke the intense rivalry between the Liverpool and Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern, and the latest comments from Jose Mourinho have certainly added fuel to the fire.

The rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool is one of the most well-documented and longest-standing in English football, and with both clubs in pursuit of Manchester City it seems unlikely that the intensity will drop anytime soon. Even the announcement of the fixture list has given the Liverpool supporters something to shout about as Jose Mourinho has already begun his pre-season mind-games by expressing anger at Liverpool’s schedule, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The report claims that Mourinho is disgruntled by the fact that Liverpool will face 6 home games following their midweek Champions League fixtures, with the implication that the Reds will have be at an advantage next season.

In response to the report, the Liverpool fans were quick to lambaste Mourinho for his petty attempt to suggest that his side are already at a disadvantage because of the fixture list.

It seems that the Portuguese manager has already made his first attempt to ruffle some Liverpool feathers a whole 2 months prior to the new season and, judging by the reaction on Twitter, he has certainly succeeded.

However, it’s easy to understand why the supporters have been eager to criticise the United boss who is rather clutching at straws by citing Liverpool’s run of home fixtures as something which could influence the outcome of a 38-fixture season.
