It never really worked out for Igor Biscan at Liverpool.
The Reds paid £7m for his services to Dinamo Zagreb in 2000, which was a rather big fee at the time, and although he made over 100 appearances for the Reds, he never really showed that he was worth the outlay. Only once did he manage more than 20 games in a Premier League season despite only leaving in 2005 to join Panathinaikos – however, he did get his hands on five trophies during his time there, including the Champions League.

It seems he is fully aware that he was not at his best during his time at Anfield, and has even admitted that he was not up to the required standard. In an interview with the club’s official website, he explained: “I wasn’t good enough, to be honest. It took me some time to really adapt and understand and find my place in the team, within the team in this type of football.
“It wasn’t easy and I didn’t play much. I just needed to change some things about the way I think about the game; then I did it and when I did it, when I changed some things, of course I still had to be patient and give myself a little bit of time. Then it was OK, I felt much better and felt I could play much easier.”
These quotes have been shared by Twitter page Anfield Watch, and it has got the club’s supporters talking. Whilst most agree that he was poor, one did actually describe him as a ‘cult hero‘.
