Borrowed time: These 2 Arsenal men need to impress ASAP ahead of summer window

Our Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are waiting for the summer to hopefully see a long-awaited turnaround at the club.

Arsenal, for a long time, have kind of just existed in the Premier League, winning the odd FA Cup here and there and scraping through to the Champions League season upon season. Until recently, that was the state of play and it’s now come to a head. Arsene Wenger must surely be on his way out according to our punters in the bar, and the need for change at the Emirates is huge.

After the performance in the Carabao Cup final against Man City, it may be the whole team that should be standing trial for next season. Indeed, our long-suffering Gunners are finding it hard to whittle the list down to just two.

However, our faithful landlord points us all in the directions of these TWO players in particular that really need to step their game up ahead of the 2018/19 season…

David Ospina

With Petr Cech showing signs of ageing in the goal this season, surely the Gunners will be on the lookout for a new No.1. However, their current back up ‘keeper has the rest of the season to prove that they need not look any further than the bench.

David Ospina didn’t have the best of games in the cup final, though neither did the rest of the team but if he is to stake his claim for the starting spot next year he needs to grasp it with both hands.

Alexandre Lacazette

The Frenchman has been pushed aside by record signing Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Lacazette was seen to be suffering from a lack of confidence in front of goal prior to the Gabon strikers move, and that hasn’t helped matter whatsoever.

Indeed, Lacazette needs to up his game not only for his club but for his country too if he wants to continue as the main man going forward.
