The Sunderland fans in the Transfer Tavern have had a torrid time over the last couple of years and currently find themselves staring down the barrel of double relegation. The Black Cats have struggled for a goalscorer since losing Jermain Defoe when the club got relegated from the Premier League and recent signing Ashley Fletcher is yet to win over the fans.
Fletcher has started every game he’s been available for since signing on loan from Middlesbrough in the January transfer window. The striker is yet to score a goal for the club and after another terrible performance yesterday, fans are fearing the Stadium of Light will never see a goal from the Manchester United academy graduate.
Since leaving Old Trafford at the start of last season, Fletcher has failed to impress at West Ham, Middlesbrough and now Sunderland. Age is on the side of the 22-year-old however as he still has plenty of time to hone his skills in front of goals, although the Sunderland fans propping up our bar will be hoping he can find his shooting boots sharpish if they’re to escape relegation and prevent dropping into England’s third tier.
Here’s the verdict from the dejected Black Cats:
Jessica Fletcher is a better option than that dingbat Ashley Fletcher #safc

How bad is the scouting/recruitment at SAFC? Barnsley get McBurnie on loan from Swansea who is scoring goals for fun, we get Fletcher from Boro's bench who couldn't hit a barn door. Says it all really. Shocking! #safc

Ashley Fletcher, or as I like to call him, the worst striker of all time. #SAFC

I’m going to make 3 predictions:
1 – We get relegated bottom of league
2 – We don’t keep another clean sheet for the rest of the season
3 – Ashley Fletcher doesn’t score a single goal for us#SAFC #ShortOut
