The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern cannot wait for next season to start…
The 2016/17 season was a landmark campaign for the Blues, as the Antonio Conte-led side bounced back from a poor showing during the previous year. In the end, it was a fairly comfortable title win, eventually storming away from the likes of Tottenham in the race to be crowned champions.
However, no sooner had the season ended had thoughts already turned towards next season, which will be an even more difficult campaign for Chelsea. The return of the Champions League, combined with the increased expectation following their success last year, will really put the pressure on Antonio Conte, though the fans in the pub are feeling confident.
With the next season still several months away, the fans have got their first taste of the new campaign this week, with the fixture list being revealed ahead of next season. A couple of juicy fixtures, notably the opening day against Burnley and the following week’s clash against Tottenham, have generated some real discussion – and many of the Chelsea fans on Twitter are feeling very excited.
