Liverpool: Reds in talks to sign Marcelo Brozovic

As per Libero (via The Daily Express), Liverpool are in talks to sign Marcelo Brozovic from Internazionale.

The report says that the Reds are interested in signing Brozovic, who appeared for Croatia in the 2018 World Cup final in Russia. They add that he has a release clause of £52m.

However, it is thought that Inter are not keen on losing the player and are planning to hold contract talks in an effort to keep him at the San Siro.

With a 25-point lead at the top of the Premier League, it could be argued that Jurgen Klopp does not need to add to his squad. However, we are all to aware that it is imperative not to stand still in one of the most competitive leagues in the world – progress must be made.

The 27-year-old has been in stunning form this term for Antonio Conte’s men – he has an average SofaScore rating of 7.27 in Serie A, scoring three goals and providing five assists along the way.

It is hard to argue that he would not be an improvement on Naby Keita. The Guinea international was signed for a then club-record fee in 2017, but he has failed to make the grade so far, managing just 51 appearances – injuries haven’t helped. Currently valued at £30.15m as per Transfermarkt, he looks like one of Klopp’s few mistakes since taking over as the club’s manager.

If the opportunity is there to sign Brozovic, the Anfield outfit should take it – Michael Edwards could well be in a place to rectify the error.
