Bye bye Aguero: 2 reasons why Gabriel Jesus is the main man for Man City now

Our Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are beginning to feel positive about their club and its future again.

In recent times the Etihad side have struggled with them getting hammered from all quarters at the smallest hint of a wobble.

Pep Guardiola has come in for plenty of criticism this season, too, for the way he has rotated his side so much and let the likes of Joe Hart go with Claudio Bravo coming in.

One decision he needs to be applauded over, though, has to be signing Gabriel Jesus as he looks like he could be a massive hit in the Premier League for years to come.

The young forward has only played a couple of games for City but already looks more than adept at playing at this level – leaving many to wonder if this is the end of Sergio Aguero.

Our landlord agrees with this appraisal, too, and thinks these two reasons suggest why it’s time for a changing of the guard up top for City…

Already looks confident

He came on flying against Tottenham and could have won the game had he not wandered offside, and was once again in fine form against West Ham earlier this week.

He seemed like a confident player in Brazil for Palmeiras but his quick adaption and audacity in his few appearances so far have suggested he’s ready to take over from Sergio Aguero very soon. He’ll believe he can do it, too.

Fits Pep’s system better

There’s been a pretty persistent criticism of Sergio Aguero that he doesn’t exactly fit what Pep Guardiola wants from his main central strikers.

Pep often likes a fluid front three that can rotate and switch positions but Aguero is never going to be part of that. Gabriel, meanwhile, looks more than adept to play out wide as well and so this could be another pointer to him taking over from the Argentine going forward.
