Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that the board can replace the ageing Petr Cech in the summer, to kick-start an overhaul of the team. Indeed, it’s sad to say, but the ‘keeping legend is seemingly on his last legs.
Cech, this season has started to look like Old Father Time is catching up with him, after years of outstanding service to the Premier League with Chelsea and Arsenal. The Gunners are in much need of an overhaul of the team, and the back line is the area our regulars want to start with.
Arsenal are in dire straits at the moment and not one member of the team is exactly covering themselves in glory. Many of the punters have been calling for David Ospina to replace Cech in recent weeks but after his performance in the Carabao Cup Final, the need for a top quality goalkeeper has become more apparent.
Our landlord has taken a look around Europe and thinks he has found TWO who could be the foundation for building a new team at the Emirates…
Jack Butland

The England goalkeeper is currently at struggling Stoke City, however many in the bar believe that Jack Butland can easily make the step up in levels to Arsenal and, become a permanent fixture between both club and countries sticks. To be fair, it’s not like the Potters’ defence is helping him all too much right now.
He’s a great shot-stopper and has vast Premier League experience which would be essential as the Gunners look to turn a corner for the better over the next few seasons.
Alisson

The Brazilian shot-stopper is currently playing in Serie A with Roma, having been courted with a move to Liverpool in the winter. Arsenal would do well to jump at the chance to grab first rate keeper like Alisson and landing him would be a huge statement of intent.
He’s got great concentration levels, which in the unpredictability of the Premier League and possible VAR incoming, is needed in the latter stages of a game. Arsenal should definitely pull out all the stops to get ahead of rivals Liverpool for his signature.
