For the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern, it’s been horrible to read reports from the Daily Telegraph that the club could consider selling Mesut Ozil next summer. 

The German playmaker is one of the elite talents in north London and remains a key aspect to any hopes they may have in winning a first Premier League title in over a decade.

Still, it appears the Gunners will not be held to ransom over his reported contract demands for a player approaching 30 years of age.

While life without the former Real Madrid man may appear to be almost unthinkable right now, perhaps Arsenal are right not be bowing to such demands.

For out there in the world of football, there are actually a number of talented players who could replace the 28-year-old should he be allowed to go.

With that in mind, here are THREE players who could replace Ozil at Arsenal.

Julian Draxler

Frequently linked with the Gunners, fellow German Julian Draxler could be Ozil’s heir-apparent.

Having seen his progress stall since replacing Kevin de Bruyne at Wolfsburg, the 23-year-old is at somewhat of a crossroads in his career right now.

Still, he’s a hugely talented attacking midfielder and a tad more versatile than his compatriot, allowing him to float across the frontline.

Isco

Being a former Real Madrid No.10, it would be quite the story if Arsenal replaced Ozil with the man who took his spot at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Isco is currently finding it hard to command much of a regular starting berth in the Spanish capital right now, though is far too talented a player to sit on the bench much longer.

Wonderfully gifted when playing off the central striker, he’d be some replacement.

Riyad Mahrez

Not really hitting the heights of last season, but no one at Leicester City currently is.

Still, last season’s PFA Player of the Year proved just what a talent he is last term and will surely look to leave the Foxes in the summer.

Seems tailor made for Arsenal.
