Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that Antonio Conte can be Arsene Wenger’s replacement after the Frenchman took another step towards leaving the club with a 2-1 loss away to Brighton and Hove Albion to make it four straight losses for the Gooners.
Arsenal were beaten again at the weekend, this time by 10th placed Brighton, who are currently enjoying their first season of Premier League football. Wenger watched on as his side failed to bounce back from successive 3-0 defeats to Manchester City as Arsenal found themselves 2-0 down inside 26 minutes. A number of errors from Arsenals back line led to Brighton finding the net through Lewis Dunk and Glenn Murray before £57.38 million signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang grabbed a consolation goal just before half-time.
The result has led to football fans everywhere believing that it’s a matter of when, not if, Arsene Wenger will walk away from the club. The 68-year-old signed a two-year extension to his contract in summer 2017 after fans called for him to leave multiple times throughout last season.
Arsenal fans on Twitter are now calling for Antonio Conte to take over from Wenger in summer as the pressure has also been increasing on the Italian at Chelsea over the last few weeks. Chelsea lost 1-0 in terrible fashion to Manchester City yesterday and it’s been reported recently that Conte is on thin ice with Chelsea’s Russian billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich.

And for all that, a regimented Chelsea side largely held City at arm's length and might have won if they'd managed a half decent pass or two on the break. I'd take Conte in a heartbeat at #AFC.
