Liverpool fans have been praising their young right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold after he trained with the England senior squad today. Liverpool’s official Twitter account tweeted the news with a link to the Liverpool Website, where it’s detailed that Alexander-Arnold won’t be joining Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming fixtures against Italy and The Netherlands.
The Liverpool youngster has been thrown into the first team light this season, to the delight of the Reds propping our bar up. Injury to regular right-back Nathaniel Clyne has given the 19-year-old his opportunity to impress for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and he’s taken his chance with both hands. Despite an error which led to Marcus Rashford scoring against Liverpool at Old Trafford, it’s hard to think of a moment in which the Liverpool academy graduate has let his side down.
Alexander-Arnold will remain with the England U21 side despite his training with the seniors today but our local Liverpool fans are convinced that it’s just a matter of time before the defender gets his first senior call-up. With the World Cup around the corner, the 19-year-old will be hoping he can knuckle down and show Gareth Southgate what he’s capable of both in training and out on the pitch as he looks to finish the season strongly with Liverpool.
Taking that into account, here’s the Anfield faithful’s verdict on their youngster:
