Celtic: Fans love Chris Sutton’s defence of the club after Sam Allardyce comments

Share

Former England manager Sam Allardyce recently made some disparaging remarks about the levels of Celtic’s success.

Indeed, while speaking on talkSPORT, the 65-year-old suggested winning trophies with the Bhoys was a ‘doddle’ given their status in the Scottish game and even predicted bitter rivals Rangers would soon overthrow them as SPFL champions.

Well, in light of those comments, a number of prominent former Bhoys stars have torn into the out-of-work manager, who hasn’t managed since getting sacked by Everton in 2018 after a short stint at Goodison Park. Former Celtic favourite John Hartson described his former employers as a special club while BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton went as far as to say Allardyce would never even be given the job in the first place.

A popular figure amongst the Celtic support given his sterling contributions for the green and white army between 2000 and 2006, Sutton’s comments certainly went down well amongst fans online last night.
