Celtic: Fans unimpressed with Yonatan Cohen being linked with Parkhead move

Celtic are reportedly targeting Israel international forward Yonatan Cohen in the January transfer window, with The Scottish Sun claiming that the club’s head of recruitment Nick Hammond recently watched him in action for Maccabi Tel Aviv and @celticbible informing followers of the Hoops’ interest in him.

The 23-year-old, who has played primarily as a winger for Maccabi Tel Aviv this season, has scored eight goals and set up another six in 14 league games, with a return of nine goals and seven assists in 20 matches in all competitions. He has scored seven goals in his last seven matches in the league, netting a brace in a 4-3 win over Maccabi Haifa in a top of the table clash earlier this week. [via TransferMarkt]

Cohen is the latest player from the Israeli league to be linked with a move to Celtic this month, with the Daily Record reporting that Bnei Yehuda midfielder Ismaila Soro is also in their sights. The Hoops have also been linked with several strikers recently, having held talks with Slovan Bratislava over a possible move for Andraz Sporar (BBC), only for the Slovenian to reject Celtic (A Bola, via The Scotsman). They have also been pursuing Stoke youngster Tyrese Campbell, according to the Daily Record.

With no signings made yet in January, these Celtic fans on Twitter were underwhelmed by the links to Cohen:
