Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not surprised to hear in the Daily Record that they have agreed to allow John Guidetti to make his stay at Celtic permanent for a fee of £3 million.
This is a great bit of business by Celtic with the Swedish striker having impressed out on loan away from the Etihad Stadium, particularly at Feyenoord previously.
The 22-year-old has settled into life in Scotland with ease and has already scored 11 goals for Celtic since his arrival in August.
The reason why the fee is as small as £3 million is because Guidetti’s contract at City is set to expire at the end of the season.
Ronny Deila has been desperate to land him permanently and feared that his Bhoys side would lose out in the race to secure his signature.
But the Celtic gaffer said: “There has been some movement on Guidetti.
“Hopefully that’s encouraging. If it wasn’t, I don’t think he’d want to meet us, so it’s positive.
“There is no problem with his club Manchester City. It’s now about getting the player on board.”
