Celtic suffer potential blow as trio receive injuries in St. Johnstone win

Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers will have an anxious wait on his hands following the victory against St. Johnstone on Sunday.

The Bhoys ran out 2-0 winners as they extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to six points, however, it may have come at a huge cost.

According to a report by The Scottish Sun, James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Mikael Lustig were all forced off in the victory.

Forrest, who had scored the opener, had to withdraw from the game shortly after with a hamstring complaint.

Lustig was substituted at half-time as he was unable to recover from his knock and was replaced by debutant Jeremy Toljan.

Edouard, who had only just made his return from injury as a second-half substitute, had to be replaced eight minutes later after needing to be stretched off after a nasty collision on the goal line with Joe Shaughnessy.

The Verdict:

The trio’s injuries could all not have come at a potentially worse time for Rodgers and Celtic.

All three men will now be considered huge doubts for their Europa League clash with Valencia, adding to an ever-growing injury list.

Tom Rogic has already been definitely ruled out, whilst the likes of Dedryck Boyata, Kieran Tierney and Filip Benkovic are all questionable for the game against the Spanish outfit.
