Chairman admits club receive offer matching release clause which could be good news for Leeds

Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern will be wondering if they are close to landing one of their targets this summer following the announcement made on Twitter.

The Whites are keen to add a couple of players in different areas of the pitch to help strengthen their squad as Marcelo Bielsa’s side looks to compete for a place in the Premier League.

And it appears they may have been given a boost from one of the club’s chairmen this summer, as he took to Twitter to reveal that he has had an offer for one of his players.

Marcus Maddison has been attracting interest from a number of clubs recently, with Leeds being credited as having an interest, and it appears the Peterborough owner has admitted he could be on the move.

Taking to Twitter, Darragh MacAnthony has stated that the release clause for the winger had been activated but also claimed that the payment was not the way the club wanted.

Landlord’s Verdict

The Leeds fans in the Tavern will be hopeful that their club has met the release clause for the player, however, the Peterborough chairman has not revealed who made the offer.

Maddison was one of the most productive playmakers in the Football League last year and is thought to be wanted by a number of clubs this summer.

He would certainly help to add the creative threat that Bielsa requires at Elland Road and the locals would be delighted to see him next season.
