Leeds United were held to a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at Elland Road on Saturday lunchtime, although Adam Forshaw appeared to take plenty of the plaudits from fans on Twitter.
Pablo Hernandez continued his fine start to the season as he netted his second goal in as many matches for the Whites, however they were subsequently pulled back by Lewis Grabban’s late equaliser.
Having taken four points from their opening two games, Marcelo Bielsa’s side were perhaps unfortunate not to have taken all the spoils on the day.
In a game that they dominated for much of the 90 minutes, there appeared to be a foul in the build-up of Nottingham Forest’s goal and Stuart Dallas appeared to be fouled in the penalty area late on, although the referee failed to award a spot-kick (Sky Sports).
Despite the draw, fans appear to have taken to Twitter to single out Forshaw’s performance as one particular highlight of the game at Elland Road.
As noted by WhoScored, the experienced 27-year-old managed to provide his defensive colleagues with some valuable protection by recording two tackles, one interception and two clearances.
Leeds Live also felt Forshaw was crucial to Bielsa’s side throughout the game and even believed that it was the best performance they have seen him produce for the Whites for a long time. They gave him an eight and wrote: “Best we have seen from the former Middlesbrough man in a while. Made his tackles, broke down attacks and made his own passes to get attacks moving forward for the hosts. Did a brilliant job in suppressing the lively Alfa Semedo, whose energy died away in the second period.”
Fans were clearly delighted with what the midfielder produced on the pitch over the 90 minutes and, as mentioned, took to Twitter to laud his performance.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Other than Pablo our two best players so far have been forshaw and Dallas don’t @ me

Anyone saying that Forshaw was bad yesterday doesn’t understand football. He had a quality game #lufc

Bamford: None on target? Keeper made a good save, shot was on target. Forshaw: had a very good game.

Different roles. Forshaw was top notch yesterday, got forward well, had shots, cleaned up in midfield with recoveries, but Klich rarely now gets in shooting positions, ironically, given his song. AF looking good in the “8” but Pablo to 10 and Costa to RW wild be good. #lufc

I think Forshaw excellant yest. Costa has to start to make more chances…think Klich has to make way….

Hernandez had an off day. Forshaw was best Leeds player by some way

Harrison and Forshaw our 2 best players in my opinion.

Leeds v Forest
Daylight robbery. Completely undeserved for the trees.
Struggling to think of a Forest player that performed well (besides the referee) but Adam Forshaw impressed for the Peacocks.

Totally agree. We lack belief with shooting at the minute and he is one who last season had a pop from out the box . Forshaw was class yesterday but never a scoring midfield player.

I don’t understand the criticism of Klich. He’s absolutely vital to the way we play. Pulling players out of position to create space for Pablo. Forshaw excellent so far also #lufc
