Manchester United ‘remain in talks’ to sign ‘elegant’ English midfielder

Manchester United had a busy summer window, completely reshaping their midfield with Andrey Santos, Carlos Baleba and Youri Tielemans arriving, while Casemiro departed.

Karl Darlow also joined as goalkeeping cover and Marcus Rashford returned to the club after his loan spell, but United were unable to complete one late move before the deadline.

However, the Red Devils appear determined to keep working on the deal.

United Remain In Talks For Page

Manchester United reportedly remain in negotiations with Leicester City over a potential move for 18-year-old midfielder Louis Page.

United made a late approach for the England youth international on deadline day, but could not agree terms with Leicester. Page subsequently played 90 minutes against Plymouth Argyle, providing an assist in a 2-0 win.

The Manchester Evening News claims the clubs remain in discussions, with the structure of add-ons and payment terms among the sticking points. Leicester are also believed to want more than the £12.5m package Manchester City paid for Jeremy Monga.

Page is reportedly keen on the move, while United must now decide whether he would immediately compete for first-team opportunities or initially join the academy.

BBC Sport’s Owynn Palmer-Atkin has described the teenager as “elegant”, highlighting the qualities that have attracted United’s attention.
