According to the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, Diego Costa is near certain to leave the club this summer…
Recent comments from the Spaniard indicate a falling out between Conte and the forward, and many aren’t sure that their relationship is reconcilable.
A departure, then, would make sense, and according to Tutto Mercato Web, Costa is the subject of strong interest from a La Liga side. Tutto Mercato Web are reporting that Atletico Madrid have made a move for Costa their ‘first objective’, with Simeone a real fan of the striker. Significantly, their transfer ban means that they cannot register anyone this summer, but it is noted that a loan deal could be made with another club between now and then.
Certainly, this opens up a world of possibilities for Costa, with a move to the Spanish giants looking the most likely at present. Whilst he wouldn’t be able to turn out in Madrid for a few years, there would likely be no shortage of suitors for Costa, even for a short period, and so perhaps this move could actually come to pass this summer.
The Chelsea fans in the pub are certainly a bit disappointed, though. Many don’t want Costa to leave this summer, and so they are hoping that Atletico Madrid drop their interest – potentially forcing Costa and Conte to work things out. With 20 goals in the Premier League last year, the Blues will struggle to replace him.
